Welcome to our 6. Day of the Natural Highs Academy!

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

How are you?

I hope you had a good weekend with time for relaxation, fun and play. It can be challenging to be cooped up with the same people for a long time - even if you dearly love them. Sometimes, we have patterns of communicating that have gotten stale and predictable - especially with the people we are closest with. Add a crisis situation and the closest people can trigger us in ways that can bring out behaviors in us that we are probably not very proud of. It is not always easy to step out of these longstanding patterns and be the one who starts something new. In Natural Highs, we have a long tradition of holding Philosophy Circles where we get together and use an existential question to start a deep conversation. We have held countless Philosophy Circles with teens, with adults, with humans struggling with mental health challenges, addiction issues, legal involvement and lots of other deeply human experiences. In these circles, we have learned that when humans dive deep into their own vulnerability, they become incredibly beautiful. In these inquiries we can experience that we are mirrors for each other and that we can hold each other with much more empathy, warmth, and love than we sometimes have for ourselves. We created the attached "Natural Highs Questions Card Deck" for these times when we can't meet in person. The Questions Card Deck is inspired by these many circles and these many humans that have shared their depths and their wisdom. Thank you, Mila Long, for the beautiful design. Please use this Questions Card Deck in whatever way inspires you. Use it to dive deep with your personal explorations and use it to help others dive deep, too. In this world of social media, it is sometimes hard to connect in deep ways. This Questions Card Deck hopefully helps you and others begin this process:
